How to Move While You Travel

Uncategorized Aug 04, 2019

My husband and I are driving from Paris, France down south. We stopped at a rest stop and were delighted to find an entire outdoor gym of exercise equipment! Which inspired the topic of the importance of moving while traveling.

It’s extremely important when you're traveling, whether it's on an airplane or in a car (hey, or even in a boat!) that every so often you get up and move. Move your legs, your  back, your arms, and your whole body!

Why Move When You’re Traveling?

It's not good for our circulation to be sitting in the same position for hours on end and it’s especially unhelpful for our lymphatic system which has important work to do in detoxing our body.

Not moving much on a trip can also contribute to you feeling kind of, well, blah. You know the feeling.

Between altered sleep routines, different time zones, jet lag, and poor nutrition, adding in too much sitting to the equation is certainly not going to help you feel your best.

The Best Healthy Snacks for Travel

Uncategorized Jul 28, 2019

If you’ve been following me on my Facebook or Instagram profiles, you know that I’m on a month-long road trip in France, which has led to us talking a lot about maintaining your health while traveling.

A big part of my health maintenance while on the road is my travel snacks! However, eating on the road can be very challenging because, well, a girl gets hangry...

I want to share with you some of the yummy things that we consider to be staples while on the road.  When it comes to your diet, the worst thing you can do on the road is to not bring anything with you.  This can lead to hunger, which then leads to desperate eating of anything you find.

Want to see, live and in person, the exact brands I use? Head over and watch my video “My Favorite Travel Snacks!”

Nut Butters

My #1 travel food that I carry with me is nut butters.  Some of my favorites are actually not made from nuts - they’re made from sunflower seeds!  Two of my...

The BEST Supplements for Travel

Uncategorized Jul 21, 2019

If you've read my last few blogs or follow me on social media, you probably know that I've been on a month-long road trip with my husband in France. It's inspired an entire month of discussion about staying healthy, both mentally and physically, while traveling.

People ask me all the time what supplements I recommend. I'm going to show you each and every supplement I take with me when I travel.

If you want the behind the scenes video of me packing for my trip, where I explain each and every listed supplement and why I use them (and how I pack them!) watch this video now!

Supplement Categories

There are 2 categories of supplements I take with me.

DAILY - these supplements are what I use for maintenance wellness. I take these daily to stay healthy and strong and so we avoid getting sick on the trip.

"EATS" - I also have a group of supplements that are related to digestive health. They help break down food and also digest things while we're traveling. Sometimes we eat...

Setting Boundaries While Traveling

Uncategorized Jul 13, 2019

Hello from France!!!

My husband, Dr Titus Chiu, and I are traveling through France and something happened that prompted me to want to talk more about the importance of boundaries while traveling.

This can be a touchy subject and difficult for some people to navigate, especially on a trip or vacation.

This came up for me because last night my husband and I went to a Thom Yorke concert. If you don't know who Thom Yorke is, he's the lead singer for Radiohead, one of our favorite bands. He's a wonderful musician and he tends to play a lot of ambient electronic music that can end up being quite loud.

This concert was a collaboration with visual artist Tarik Barri at the Paris Philharmonic. There was this massive screen behind him that had flashing lights and really beautiful visuals, but there were very bright and the music for blaring for over 3 hours.

While it was an amazing concert and I really enjoyed seeing him live, I...

The BEST Essential Oils for Travel

Uncategorized Jul 07, 2019

My husband and I are going on a month long trip to France this month.

One of the things that we always make sure to take with us while we travel is a few essential oils and I have a few that are my favorite for trips.

We recently took these same essential oils on our trip to Bali, Indonesia and they were indispensable. In fact, we even finished bottles while we were there.

Since our trip to Bali, I've restocked and I wanted to share with you what my favorite essential oils for travel are and how I use them.

On Guard

The first oil I am going to be discussing with you are dietary oils. I don't really care which company you use and please know, I am not a rep. If you want to find these blends with other companies that's totally cool with me. I'm just describing these because these are the ones that I have and I tend to just like some of the combination blends they have.

My favorite one, by far, is On Guard. This is similar to thieves oil or...

Walking For Detox

Uncategorized Jun 28, 2019

Did you know that one of the best and easiest ways to detox is simply by taking a walk?

Walking is a great way to spend time with your loved ones but it also is really great for our own self care. One of those reasons is because it helps you detox!

There are four detox organs that are at work while we are taking a walk.

When you start moving and you start exercising, you start releasing sweat.

Sweat is one of the most potent ways that we get toxins out of our body. There have been studies on the contents of sweat and they often find BPA, environmental toxins, and other gunk that we don't want in our body.

What most people don't know is that sweat is not just water that's cooling us off. It's actually a pathway for detoxing chemicals.

Lymphatic system

You don't necessarily need rigorous exercise to get the benefits of detox from walking. Just moving and walking leisurely causes the muscles in your legs to contract, such as your calves,...

5 Types of Massage That Help Your Body Remove Toxins

Uncategorized Jun 23, 2019

In my last post, I talked about 6 Signs That Your Body Isn't Detoxing and the six major detoxification organs or systems.

One of my favorites detox systems is the lymphatic system, which we are going to continue talking about today. The lymph system is super important for us to get toxins out of our body.

With that in mind, today I will focus on the 5 types of massage that actually help us detox through our lymphatic systems.

I will cover the following 5 types of massages:

  1. Drainage
  2. Relaxation
  3. Trigger Point Release
  4. Thai
  5. Localized

One of the MindBody tricks I use for detoxification is receiving a lot of bodywork for maintenance health.

Bodywork helps keep ourselves strong and healthy. It is a fantastic thing to do if you start to feel a little rundown or tired or had a tough week or are experiencing an autoimmune flare up. Just go and get body work!

One of my favorite, most enjoyable types of bodywork is massage.

With massage, there...
